About Your Spooky Instructor...
Heather Leavitt Martinez is a versatile artist who blends fine and commercial art with ease. With a background in printmaking and photography, she has explored nearly every medium, from ceramics to sculpture and graphic design. She’s also the author of an award-winning book—because why not add writing to the mix?
Though she stumbled into lettering by chance, Heather quickly developed a deep love for it. She has studied with master calligraphers, sign painters, and graffiti artists from around the world, and she enjoys sharing what she learns with her students using Neuland tools and techniques.
Based in Durango, Colorado, Heather teaches online and small, in-person lettering classes at The ArtRoom. She’s known in her community as a supportive arts advocate and mentor, helping others discover their creative potential.
With training in arts administration from the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and Colorado Creative Industries, Heather is committed to fostering creativity and connection among artists. Join her for a fun and engaging class that promises to inspire your own lettering journey!
