Please join us for a one day online workshop exploring envelope decoration ideas and techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced artist, you will learn to create stunning, expressive snail mail using paint, ink and paper.
Sending handwritten cards and letters is a lovely way to stay connected with friends and family. And, when your correspondence arrives in a beautifully decorated envelope, it’s all the more meaningful, especially now. Personalized correspondence spreads cheer and makes the recipient feel special. It’s an opportunity to create maximum impact on a small canvas.
In this workshop, Brenda and Mike will share their tips and techniques for creating beautiful mailable envelopes. In addition, you will have access to printable pdfs of lettering styles, painting and lettering tips, floral reference, material resources and USPS first-class mail requirements.
Brenda will show you how to mix gouache colors, paint simple florals, scale art and lettering, and draw basic script letterforms.
Mike will demonstrate how to use line as illustration, blended ink lettering, pen-made florals and techniques to jazz up your lettering.
Brenda and Mike will also share examples of creative mail art and their personal sources of inspiration. There will be time scheduled at the end of the workshop to review work and answer questions.
Workshop notes: Some lettering experience will be helpful. This workshop will be recorded and will be accessible for six months. Upon registration, students will receive access to the online portal, complete with materials lists and a welcome letter to get you prepared for the workshop.
