After studying the hand lettering of Frank Lloyd Wright and other architects, I noticed patterns in all of their letters. I broke these "Attributes" down so that they can be taught, learned, repeated, and personalized.
The benefits of learning How to Write Like an Architect include:
- Helps improve your handwriting and rapid capture lettering.
- Offers variations to fit your individual style.
- It is easy to learn and use when taking personal notes, sketchnoting, or graphic recording, and it offers consistency when tandem recording.
This lettering style is versatile and scalable. Additional bonus videos offer ways to use the lettering styles with a variety of mark-making tools. This is a great way to improve your digital lettering when working on an iPad or tablet.
NOTE: This class is FREE when you purchase any of these courses:
- Lettering Journey EXPRESS

About Heather

I love letters—writing them, drawing them, talking about them, and teaching them!
At a Washington, D.C. meetup, I realized my lettering was the heart of my graphic recording. Later, during a workshop with Carol DuBosch at the National Calligraphy Conference, I discovered that calligraphy scripts could be translated into marker-based lettering styles.
Since 2016, I’ve studied with masters of calligraphy, sign painting, and graffiti, translating their techniques into practical methods for visual practitioners. But I’ve also realized that anyone can benefit from learning these skills, whether for professional or personal use.
Today, I offer online courses, virtual 1:1 sessions, and in-person workshops at The ArtRoom in Durango, Colorado.
If you’re as excited about lettering as I am—or if you’re ready to discover that excitement—let’s connect!
